Recognising the signs & symptoms of all addictive behaviours
Book AppointmentAddiction does not only affect you, but it can also affect your friends and family. It can have a great impact on your social life and work/school life. Relationships and responsibilities may be neglected due to addictive behaviour.
Visiting a therapist can greatly help you in abstaining from or overcoming your addiction. I will work with you to create an individual approach to help deal with any addictive behaviours.
You may find you feel guilty over using alcohol or drugs. Some people find they are lying to themselves and others over how much they are using.
Some may experience blackouts or memory loss after a night of drinking or taking drugs and recognise a complete change in behaviour, mood and thoughts, reactions and responses.
Misuse is not restricted to alcohol or drugs. Other addictions that can develop are gambling, sex addiction or pornography addiction.
People can also become addicted to their smartphones and social media. This type of addiction, sometimes called "nomophobia" (fear of being without a phone), can lead to compulsive use; neglecting other aspects of life, and potentially causing depression and loneliness.
We also offer treatment for individuals affected by someone else's addictive behaviour or misuse. Through a tailored therapeutic approach we can equip you with the necessary skills to overcome your situation.
